Greetings, fellow Demon fans! It's your favorite mascot, The Penno Demon, here to bring you a recap of our first-round clash at Bob Prenter Reserve against the SWS Blues. It was an exhilarating match filled with lessons and some fantastic moments from our Penno boys.
The atmosphere was electric as the game kicked off at 1:00 pm, and our team was ready to make their mark. Let's break down the action quarter by quarter:
First Quarter:
Our Penno team started with determination, matching the Blues goal for goal. We ended the quarter with 2 goals and 1 behind, just trailing behind the Blues with 2 goals and 4 behinds. The score was close at 13 to 16 in favor of the Blues.
Second Quarter:
This quarter proved to be a tough one for us, as we found ourselves under pressure. We managed to add just 1 behind to our tally, while the Blues extended their lead with 1 goal and 4 behinds. By halftime, the score stood at 14 to 26.
Third Quarter:
The Penno spirit shone brightly after the break! Our boys rallied with an impressive 3 goals and 2 behinds, while the Blues were held to just 1 goal and 4 behinds. We clawed our way back into the game, bringing the scoreline to a thrilling 34 to 36. It was anyone's game!
Fourth Quarter:
The final quarter saw the Blues edge ahead with a strong performance, securing 5 goals and 2 behinds. Our players showed great heart, adding 2 goals and 1 behind to our score, but ultimately, the game concluded with the Blues winning 68 to 48.
Final Score: MPD 7.5 (47) to SWS Blues 9.14 (68)
Despite the loss, it was a spirited effort from our team, and there's so much to be proud of. Our best players stepped up, with Aidan Russell showing exceptional skills, Mitchell Blow and Josh Stern making crucial contributions, and Cooper Lee showcasing his talent with a goal. Charlie Allison and Stephen Wray also played pivotal roles in fighting hard throughout the match.
The lessons learned today are invaluable, and as we regroup, we're more determined than ever to come back stronger in our next game. Remember, it's only a trial match, and we've got plenty of time to refine our strategies.
Thank you to our coach Deon Crowden, and to our loyal fans for their unwavering support. Let's keep the Demon spirit high and look forward to the next battle against Manly at home in round 2.
Until next time, stay fierce and go Penno!
Yours demonically,
The Penno Demon
