From the very first bounce, the Penno spirit was ablaze. We set the tone in the first quarter, piling on 3 goals and 2 behinds, while keeping North Shore at bay with just 1 behind. The scoreboard read a commanding 20 to 1 in our favor – what a way to start!
As the game heated up in the second quarter, North Shore made some moves. Matching us goal for goal, the scoreboard showed us still ahead at halftime with a 33 to 14 lead. Our defense was stellar, with Michael Morris and Nick DeGorter leading the charge.
The third quarter saw a slight shift in the winds, as North Shore narrowed the gap with another two goals. But our Penno lads were ready. We responded, ensuring we held our ground with 1 goal and 1 behind. The score: Penno 40, North Shore 27.
Then came the final quarter, and oh what a sight it was! The Penno players unleashed fury, scoring an impressive 4 goals and 4 behinds, while North Shore could only manage a single behind. The final siren echoed across the oval, sealing a triumphant victory for our Penno team with a final score of 68 to 28.
Our best players today were nothing short of magnificent. Daniel Crompton was a powerhouse on the field, alongside Adam Wagner, who dominated every contest. Matt Miles and Luke Bray were also pivotal, sharing sparkling moments that had the crowd roaring.
Special shout-outs to our goal scorers: Luke Bray and Daniel Crompton leading with 2 each, and contributions from Nick DeGorter, Lachlan Flower, Ethan Harrigan, Zachary Hollinger, Oskar Raue, and Edward Turner. Each goal a testament to the teamwork and spirit of our squad.
