Below is the rundown of the top of the table clash with South West Sydney. The game kicked off at 2:45 PM, and although it was a tough match, our lads showed grit and determination throughout.
We started off strong, with our demons kicking 3 goals and 1 behind to SWS's 4 goals and 1 behind. The scoreboard read 19 to 25 in favor of SWS at the end of the first quarter. Our very own Cooper Lee was quick to make his mark early on.
The second quarter saw a bit of a struggle for our team as SWS managed to extend their lead. We scored 1 goal without a behind, while SWS added 3 goals and 4 behinds, taking the score to 25 to 47. This was a learning moment for the team as they battled hard but couldn't quite convert their efforts.
Our Demons came out with renewed purpose after the halftime break, scoring 2 goals while SWS replied with 4 goals and 3 behinds.
In the final quarter, we gave it our all, scoring 2 goals and 1 behind. SWS, however, managed to pull away with 6 goals and 5 behinds, finalizing the score at 50 to 115.
Despite the final score, there were several standouts for Penno. Cameron Mitchell was a powerhouse on the field and was rightly named our best player, with Stephen Wray and Cooper Lee also putting in fantastic performances. Henry Williams and Thomas Edmonds showed great resilience, and Xavier Russell made significant contributions throughout the match.
