Pennant Hills produced one of their most memorable victories of the season, storming home to snatch a thrilling three-point win over St George, 8.1 (49) to 5.16 (46), with the match-winning goal coming in the final 30 seconds.
The afternoon also marked a significant milestone for Mitchell Trenaman, who celebrated his 150th senior game for the Pennant Hills Demons. Fittingly, the experienced Demon led from the front with a standout performance, earning best-on-ground honours in a memorable occasion for both himself and the club.
The Demons made a bright start, kicking the opening two goals before St George responded to take a nine-point lead into quarter time. Pennant Hills tightened the contest in the second term, but the visitors' inaccuracy in front of goal kept them within striking distance despite trailing by four points at the main break.
St George continued to apply pressure after halftime and edged their lead out to six points heading into the final quarter. With the game on the line, the Demons refused to give in. They lifted their intensity around the contest, won critical stoppages and surged forward repeatedly in the closing stages. After drawing within a kick, Pennant Hills produced one final attacking passage, with the winning goal coming inside the last 30 seconds to spark jubilant celebrations.
Lachlan Boyd was outstanding in front of goal, finishing with five majors in a match-winning display. Lachlan Flower, Zac Morris and Michael Weathers each added a goal to round out the scoring.
Mitchell Trenaman, Lachlan Boyd, Pat Witt, Matthew Carey, Jake Condon and Zac Morris were recognised among the side's best. Their composure under pressure and belief until the final siren capped off a remarkable comeback victory and ensured Trenaman's 150th game will be remembered as one of the club's great milestone occasions.
