Despite going down by nine points to Camden on Saturday, there was plenty for our group to take away from what was a highly competitive contest against one of the benchmark teams of the competition.

When we met Camden earlier in the season, we were beaten by nine points in a low-scoring affair, managing just 42 points for the game. On the weekend, we again fell short by nine points, but the growth in our group was clear for everyone to see.

Against a side that will likely finish equal top of the ladder, we increased our scoring output significantly, kicking 11.6 (72) and pushing one of the competitios best teams right to the final siren.

The most pleasing aspect was our hardness around the contest and our commitment to sticking with our game plan. Even when Camden opened a lead through the middle stages of the game, the players never stopped believing in what we were
trying to achieve. We challenged them physically, continued to compete, and put ourselves in a position to launch a genuine comeback.

At three-quarter time we trailed by 21 points, but the group showed tremendous character in the final quarter. We rallied strongly, kicked 3.1 to 1.1 in the last term, and had Camden under pressure right up until the final siren. We were 95% there this week. The effort, commitment and belief were outstanding, and against a side of Camden's quality that nearly got the job done.

The lesson for us is simple. Against benchmark teams, there is no room for lapses. The best sides stay switched on for 100% of the contest, and that's why Camden sit where they do on the ladder. Our challenge is to bring that same focus and execution
for every minute of every quarter because we have shown we are capable of matching it with the competitions best.

The exciting part is that our finals hunt remains very much alive. We now face a must-win game against North Shore this weekend. Earlier in the season, with a severely depleted list, we pushed North Shore all the way and were unlucky not to
come away with the four points. With the progress we have made since then and the football we have played over the last few weeks, we know we have every reason to be confident.

The message is clear: continue to trust the game plan, bring the same hardness and intensity, and ensure every player is switched on for the entire contest. If we do that, well give ourselves every opportunity to beat North Shore and keep our finals aspirations alive.

We're close. Very close. Now it's time to take the final step.
