The Demons set the tone from the opening bounce, producing a strong first quarter to take a 34-point lead into the first change. The pressure continued through the second term, with Pennant Hills adding another 33 points while holding East Coast to just two behinds. At half-time, the Demons had established a commanding 65-point advantage.
There was no let-up after the main break, with the Demons continuing to control the contest and move the ball effectively. Another five goals in the third quarter extended the margin beyond 80 points, before the boys finished strongly in the final term with a further five goals to run out 112-point winners.
Skipper Mitchell Blow led from the front in a standout performance, finishing the afternoon with an impressive eight goals. His contribution was complemented by Oscar Irwin, who finished with four, while Liam Everett and Josh Stern both added two goals each.
There were plenty of strong individual performances across the ground, with Mitchell Blow, Cameron Este, Oscar Irwin, Liam Everett, Michael Carroll and Zac Elliott named among the Demons’ best.
The result also saw the Demons retain the Warren ‘Pops’ Quintrell Shield, adding another important chapter to the rivalry with East Coast. The Shield is a great recognition of the history and connection between the two clubs, making the strong team performance and emphatic win even more meaningful.
It was a comprehensive performance across all four quarters, with contributions right across the ground and a strong defensive effort restricting East Coast to just 33 points.
